Senior Primary at Flinders is a time of great opportunity, growth and development for all students. These years provide the best foundation so that students enter Middle School in Year 7 with wonderful memories, cherished friendships and as comfortable, confident and capable learners.
Students in Years 4 and 5 at 911±¬ÁÏÍø are encouraged to engage in all aspects of school life and to pursue their personal best in a dynamic, motivating and ‘adventurous’ environment, where excellence is valued and learning is at the heart of all we do.
Years 4 and 5 are pivotal years for students to join our College. Students in Years 5 and 6 are fortunate to learn in the brand new Masterplan building, The Flagship Centre - an aspirational and innovative learning space located in the Primary School.
We welcome new students and support them with buddy programs and an aspirational culture. This supportive structure helps teach all students the necessary social skills and values that enable them to build friendships and make connections across our College community.
"The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go."

Academic Development
A rich academic program extends to specialist lessons in Art, Music, HPE, Religious and Values Education, Japanese, French and ICT, where coding and graphics, amongst other apps, are explored using our 1:1 iPad program.
Our English Specialist teacher, Mathematics Specialist teacher and Co-ordinator of Academic Talent facilitate smaller class sizes in the priority areas of literacy and numeracy and extend students who are ready for applying their learning to complex and challenging tasks.
Flinders is pleased to open the new Flagship Centre for our Years 5 and 6 students as part of our Flinders Masterplan. The new facility is a light-filled and modern space that overlooks the beautifully manicured Anthony Vincent Oval and its rainforest border. It intentionally supports a blend of traditional and innovative teaching and learning with its agile classroom design and state-of-the-art technology.
Culture of Kindness,
Friendships and Respect
Years 5 and 6 at Flinders intentionally prepare students for their transition to Secondary School. Students are guided and encouraged to take risks in their learning and accept greater responsibility so they may enter Secondary School with the confidence, skills and knowledge to flourish.
Throughout the Primary Years, our students are supported in a culture of kindness and high standards, and there is respect for the desire of students at this age to seek greater independence and to build strong connections with peers.
A strong focus on pastoral care promotes student connection with peers and teachers, which ensures each student feels supported through their Senior Primary years.
Co-Curricular
Opportunities
Sporting and cultural opportunities abound through the inter-school SCISSA program, including soccer, netball, basketball, touch football, volleyball, cricket, AFL and water polo, along with our outdoor education camps which culminate in our Canberra Tour in Year 6.
Year 5 students head off to a recreational camp in the first few weeks of the year, where new friendships are formed and challenges are embraced. There is also the new Find My Spark Co-Curricular Program in Flinders Primary which offers a range of activities from coding, to gardening, chess, sports, environmental projects, music, singing, dance, interior design, art and crafts, TED Talks, Makers Club and more to engage and inspire students’ passions and gifts.
Leadership Skills
The development of leadership skills and each students’ character are enhanced through roles on the Staff and Student Council and the opportunity to be a Library Monitor.
Students can aspire and apply for leadership positions in Year 6, which include Primary School Leaders, House Captains and Music Captains, although all Year 6 students are viewed as leaders across the Primary School and are requested to assist with many leadership tasks.
